On GivingTuesday (Dec. 3), we invited SMI members to come alongside Asia Christian Services (ACS) to reach more people in Myanmar and neighboring countries with the Gospel. Myanmar has been devastated by an ongoing civil war that has displaced thousands of families, and countless people in this heavily Buddhist area have never heard the gospel.
You came through with a wonderful response. According to our friends at ACS, 37 contributors collectively gave over $14,000! As in years past, generous SMI members learned of a need and wanted to be part of the solution. Including a dollar-for-dollar match from Sound Mind Investing, that means together we raised more than $28,000 to advance the Gospel.
The money will be used to equip Asian national missionaries with tablets preloaded with the JESUS film, which powerfully depicts the life and ministry of Jesus in the native language of those watching the film. The missionaries will use the tablets to bring the Gospel to even the most remote parts of the region, plant new churches, and disciple new believers.
Including the match, the money raised is enough to purchase 90 tablet sets. If each tablet is used as instructed — to show the JESUS film at least 25 times per year to at least 10 people at each showing — through this year’s GivingTuesday initiative, 22,500 people per year will hear the Gospel, many for the first time. Local Christian missionaries will then follow up with and disciple new believers.
In addition to training and equipping local missionaries, ACS provides disaster relief and helps build churches, leadership training centers, Bible colleges, schools, and orphanages in Myanmar and neighboring countries. Its church-planting work focuses on planting “reproducing churches,” which send evangelists to share the Gospel with more people and establish more churches.
We’re grateful for the work being done by Asia Christian Services, and we’re grateful to you for your investment in magnifying this work.
